 Contendro

Contendro I was premium
stallion at his approval in 1999 in Neumünster. In 2000 he won
his stallion performance test in Adelheidsdorf, clearly
victorious in the index for jumping with a score of 147.29. In
the dressage index he ended on fourth place among the 39
stallions tested with a score of 131.09. In 2001 he placed with
the best at the Holstein Riding Horse Championships and was
nominated for the Bundeschampionat. Because he was so popular
with mare owners, Contendro I had little time for competing but
came home with a ribbon from every single show jumping test he
entered. Contendro's quality as a sire brought him trademark
status very early. More than 30 of his sons have been licensed
so far. Captain Fire, from Contendro I's very first crop, won
the 2006 Bundeschampionat in the class for five year old
jumpers. Charming Boy, the 2005 Champion Stallion of the
Springpferdezuchtverband Oldenburg-International (OS) approval,
finished his performance test in 2006 in Neustadt/Dosse as
Reserve Champion. Condiro also finished his performance test as
Reserve Champion. Another son, Comte, ended on second place in
the index for jumping at his test and Contendros Bube finished
his test as Reserve Champion. Contendro's licensed son, Codex
On, was knocked-down for 170,000 Euro – the highest price at
the 114th Hanoverian Elite Auction. At the 2004 Holstein
approval his son Colandro became the second Reserve Champion. A
Contendro I daughter called Con Pleasure was the celebrated 2005
OS Champion Mare and in the following year, her foal by Solitair
sold at the 5th OS Elite Foal Auction in Vechta for a top price
of 40,000 Euro. In 2006, Contendro I's daughters dominated the
free jumping competitions in Verden: Cascada, Catalina and
Cortina all took first place in the classes for four year olds.
A Contendro I-Silvio I son took third place. A Contendro I son
had his nose up front in the class for three year olds as well.
In 2005, a State Premium candidate mare named Corletta won the
class for three year olds. Contendro I is present nationally and
internationally through his foals. Just as an example: The
Westphalian Foal Championships 2006 in Milte was won by a
Contendro I colt and at the Elite Foal Auction in Brabant, the
Netherlands, Brainpower was knocked down for a top price of
28.000 Euro.
The Swiss Foal Championships in Avenches ended with a Contendro
I daughter on second place. Contendro I youngsters have also
brought high prices at the Suisse Elite Foal Auction in
Frauenfeld. According to their age, Contendro's offspring place
in competitions from the bottom level to the very top. His
children have spread throughout the world through the auctions
in Verden, Vechta and Münster-Handorf, selling to customers from
all of Europe and abroad. Contendro's sire, Contender, is one of
the Holsteiner Verband's most outstanding sire personalities.
The life-time earnings of his off-spring such as the double
European Champion, Montender/Marco Kutscher, the two-time Riders
Tour winner, Checkmate, and the three-time Derby winner,
Collin/Toni Hassmann have run over 3.9 million by 2006. The dam,
Bravo, produced another top sire called Caretano Z (by Caretino),
who became the 1997 Vice Bundeschampion as well as 1999 World
Champion and is meanwhile a successful international sport
horse. In 2003 Bravo presented her third licensed son, Contendro
II, who became Reserve Champion at his performance test in
Adelheidsdorf in 2004 and qualified for the Bundeschampionat in
2006. The granddam, Ofarim, is also the dam of a licensed
stallion named Conteur (by Contender), who took fifth place in
2001 and fourth place in 2002 at the Bundeschampionat for riding
horses, as well as the sport horses Rainman (by Reichsgraf;
Inter I) and Condor (by Campione, a one-star advanced level
jumper). Her daughter, Evita XII (by Reichsgraf) is the dam of
Caballo (by Coriano), a licensed stallion successful in the US.
The Holstein performance line 104 is also known for sires such
as Capitano, Carneval, Celano, Chico’s Boy, Corland, Landego and
many others as well as the top international horses Retina/Fritz
Thiedemann, Athlet and Corlanda/both Willi Melliger/SUI and
Athletico/Ludger Beerbaum. |
