Russel II (Archived)

As a son of Corofino I and brother of Coupe de Cœur, Russel is a handsome grey Holstein stallion with a beautiful forehand who was a top international winner with Nick Skelton.

Russel had a long and brilliant international career. Among his best results were:

In addition, Russel won the 2004 Hickstead CSIO5* Grand Prix and the 2006 WEF Challenge CSI5*  in Wellington, Florida. He also placed 2nd in the 2004 and 2005 King George V Gold Cup among many other top placings in international CSI 3-4 star shows.

Russel's sire, Corofino I was a top international jumper who competed for Italy. He was most notably well placed in the CSI of Modena, Vincenza, Pinerolo, Aresso, Cervia, and Cannes. As a sire, Corofino I has produced more than 200 nationally competing horses in Germany and more than 60 internationally successful jumpers. Aside from Russel, Corofino I produced the 2008 Beijing Olympic horse, Fresh Direct Corlato ridden by Tim Stockdale, the world champion of the 7 yr. old jumpers, Jasmin, and the 2001 Belgian national champion, Chatman.

Russel's dam, Adele, is also very impressive having produced the top international jumper and sire, Coup de Coer, ridden by Ludgar Beerbaum. Her dam line is the 4232 Holstein line which has produced numerous approved stallions and top international jumpers. Adele's dam, Kolin, was the dam of the internationally successful jumper, Bolina, who competed for Mexico under the name Marimba La Silla, as well as the stallions Chairman La Silla and Manzanillo LS.

Russel began breeding in France in 2011. He had been concentrating on his jumping career until the Olympics in 2008 so he doesn't have many offspring yet. The oldest is a 7 year old called Unlimited, and this horse was 2nd in the six year old championships of the 2007 Spanish Sunshine Tour  out of 123 competitors and placed every other day in competition before being exported to Canada. Russel also has super 5 and 6 year olds currently competing in England.
