Unique performance in the world, Contendro is for the 4th consecutive year in the world TOP in the 3 disciplines: 5th in Eventing, 47th in CSO and 74th in dressage and the succession is there since he is, with Kannan, the best sire of 6 years of the SHF Top 100. He is recognized and appreciated all over the world and transmits his look, a very beautiful locomotion, his aptitude and his respect.

Contendro I daughter SPS Coletha is the 2021 Hanoverian Mare of the Year.

For many years, Contendro I was the world's Number 1 sire of eventing horses and is still ranked fifth. He has also ranked among the world's top sires in show jumping. Looking at the pedigree it is not so surprising. Contendro is strongly inbred to the Anglo Arab foundation sire, Ramzes AA through Ramiro with two crosses on his dam line, and then Ramiro again as Contender's dam sire. There is also a heady dose of Thoroughbred, with Tin Rod xx, Rantzau xx, and two crosses of Ladykiller xx.He produces offspring of the finest quality and transmits his locomotion, technique, brains and elasticity to his foals.

The career of the extraordinary sire Contendro I in a few key words: 1999 Holstein premium stallion, winner of the 2000 Adelheidsdorf stallion performance test, placed in the 2001 Holstein Riding Horse Championships, and was nominated for the Bundeschampionate. His heavy breeding schedule only allowed for sporadic appearances at shows but when he competed, he always took home a ribbon.

His sire, Contender, is one of the world's leading jumper-makers.

Contendro's dam, Bravo, is also the dam of the licensed stallion, Caretano Z (by Caretino), who died much too early in 2001 after a brief but highly successful career as the 1997 Reserve Bundeschampion, 1999 World Champion of 7-year old show jumpers, and a World Cup Finalist in Gothenberg, Sweden.

Contendro I is one of the best advertisements for the famous Holstein performance line 104 a. More than 30 of his sons have been licensed so far.In the auctions, Contendro's offspring are also exceptionally impressive. As of 2010, his offspring had sold for a total of 4.6 million Euro in Verden, the most ever for a jumper sire at the Hanoverian auctions. His son, Carlucci, sold for a top price of 280,000 Euro at the 2007 Hanoverian Spring Elite Auction, and Contendro's son, Codex One, was sold for 170,000 Euro – the highest price at the 2004 Hanoverian Elite Auction. Both stallions have gone on to be successful in the show rings and as show jumping sires.

Contendro I is the sire of 2018 Eventing Horse of the Year, Chatwin, won his last four events of the 2018 season, starting with the Rebecca Farm CCI4*-L (formerly CCI3*) and concluding with the Dutta Corp Fair Hill International CCI4*-L. Frankie and Chatwin led Fair Hill wire-to-wire and finished on their dressage score to become the USEF National Champions. He was the only horse in the world to win two events at the CCI4*-L (formerly CCI3*) level or higher in 2018.

A Contendro I daughter Con Pleasure was the celebrated 2005 OS International Champion Mare, and the following year, her foal by Solitair sold at the 5th Oldenburg Elite Foal Auction in Vechta for a top price of 40,000 Euro. In 2006, Contendro I's daughters dominated the free jumping competitions in Verden: Cascada, Catalina, and Cortina all took first place in the classes for four year olds. In 2005, a State Premium candidate mare named Corletta won the free jumping class for three year olds.

Contendro I is present nationally and internationally through his foals. Just as an example: The Westphalian Foal Championships 2006 in Milte was won by a Contendro I colt, and at the Elite Foal Auction in Brabant, the Netherlands, Brainpower was sold for a top price of 28.000 Euro. Hundreds of Contendro's foals have spread throughout the world through the auctions in Verden, Vechta and Münster-Handorf, selling to customers from all of Europe and abroad.

Contendro has offspring competing at the highest levels in the three major disciplines. In addition to his status as the leading sire of event horses, he has sired multiple Grand Prix jumpers and Grand Prix dressage horses.
