Chilli Morning

British Sport Horse

Chilli Morning

Chilli Morning became the first stallion to win the world's most elite eventing competion, the 2015 Badminton Horse Trials. He also won an Indivdual Bronze at the 2014 World Equestrian Games in Normandy, France and won the dressage at 2014 Rolex, Kentucky.

Chilli Morning's retirement was announced in January of 2017 and, under saddle of William Fox-Pitt,  the duo performed well at his final Olympic competition by placing 12th and ultimately becoming the highest placing British competitors.  He will be taking up full-time stud duties at a farm in the UK.

This exceptional stallion was bought to be a competition horse; his rhythm, movement, jump and scope will impress anybody. Combined with his fantastic temperament he is not only the perfect event horse, but an ideal Sire for the next generation.

Chilli Morning has proved very fertile, with most mares in foal using Frozen semen. In 2009, we are looking forward to Chilli Morning's second crop of foals, including an embryo transfer from Advanced mare Kings Gem. Foals from 2008 have been successful in the show ring.

His son, Chillis Gem has proven to follow the footsteps of his sire and a solid partner for Gemma Tattersall, an in 2016 the pair won the Le Lion seven-year-old championship. Tattersall has other Chilli Morning offspring that are high prospects for the sport.

The sire, Phantomic xx, goes back to Northern Dancer, the most successful TB stallion of the 20th Century (see the page on Northern Dancer xx), and also has Secretariat in the line. Secretariat (March 30, 1970 – October 4, 1989) was an American thoroughbred racehorse who won the 1973 Triple Crown, becoming the first Triple Crown winner in 25 years, and set still-standing track records in two of the three races in the Series, the Kentucky Derby (1:59), and the Belmont Stakes (2:24). Like the famous Man o' War, Secretariat was a large chestnut colt and was given the same nickname, "Big Red." Phantomic xx himself was bred in Canada and then sent to West Germany to race and stand at stud. He won 8 times, winning $60,929 in total.
