Abdullah
|
Abdullah was recently honored as one of the top 50 horses
of the century by "The Chronicle of The Horse". He is the most
successful show jumper in the history of the Trakehner breed. The
gray Trakehner stallion will best be remembered for his 1984 Olympic
performance in show jumping with his rider Conrad Homfeld. Their
brilliant clear round in the Team Competition clinched the first and
only team gold medal for the United States. They went on to win the
Olympic silver medal in the individual competition. Abdullah and
Conrad continued to re-write the record book by winning the 1985
World Cup in Berlin and at the age of 15 yrs they again won a first
and only Team Gold medal at the 1986 World Championships, Aachen,
where Abdullah was the leading horse of the competition. During his
long career he won Grand Prix competitions with Joe Fargis and
Debbie Stephens as well as Conrad Homfeld. Abdullah was one of the
first warmblood jumper stallions and with his many victories he was
in great demand as a sire of performance horses. He is approved as a
breed stallion by virtually every warmblood registry. In the U.S. he
has produced IHF and IJF Champions as well as numerous AHSA Horses
of The Year. Most recently, in 1999, his son Abracadabra was AHSA
Jr. Jumper of The Year. Abdullah has many foals from frozen semen
exported worldwide. As a result of this international program the
stallion Airborne Monticello, presently competing for France, was
named to their 1996 Olympic Show Jumping Team and was a member of
their 1998 World Championship Silver Medal Team. His offspring are
large and athletic and inherit his excellent temperament as well as
his jumping ability. Abdullah has approved breeding stallions in
Austria, France, Germany, and Italy.
